Integrated VT systems within a complex heritage-led mixed-use masterplan combining residential, workspace, and cultural spaces.
The development includes 130,000 sq m of offices and affordable workspace, 500 new homes, 1,600 sq m of retail, a destination building for cultural space on Brick Lane, as well as exhibition space along the historic London Road beneath an elevated park. Working with brilliant architects Eric Parry, Gensler, Buckley Grey Yeoman and Chris Dyson, the significant design challenges were overcome.
The plans see a great deal of the site’s heritage retained, with the listed Braithwaite Viaduct arches opened to the public and the Oriel Gate restored to become the ‘gateway’ entrance to the site from Shoreditch High Street. Site wide VT designs had to respond to the various uses, particularly high-rise.
