Delivered comprehensive VT design for full hotel renovation, modernizing and replacing 18 lifts and introducing new front-of-house lifts within heritage constraints.
The world-famous Savoy Hotel underwent a complete renovation programmed with Reardon Smith that included replacement and refurbishment of the entire Vertical Transportation systems. This consisted of the modernization and replacement of 18 existing lifts and the provision of two new front-of-house lifts.
The client’s brief was to develop a strategy that would enable the hotel to operate for a further 40 years. The challenge was to integrate modern technology in spaces that were extremely restrictive. Many lifts had to be specially engineered to reduce expensive alterations to shafts and machine rooms.
